Obviously I want to make a few changes to my new juke and have it booked in with Nissan at the end of the week to add a spoiler to it at an eye watering price!!

Just wondering what mods I can do at home or without going through Nissan that won't void the warranty or do I need to go through the dealer for any changes I make?

Rach

Hi Rach it all depends what mods you have in mind. Anything that is removable should be fine. I would say lowering it would void the warrantee but a change of wheels should be fine as long as you have the originals to put back on just incase of any issues. As for any other bolt on products like exhaust or dump valve for turbo models would be at your own risk. As long as you keep all originals to go back on for services or mots then again you should be fine. Try google search as well as there should be a list of things you can and can't do to keep the warrantee in place.
Don't forget to post pictures of your Juke and mods for others to admire

Thanks,
Not planning oh mega mods like lowering mainly the style pack stuff and changing the interior colour from gloss black to red. Also adding wind deflectors and such like.
Over time I plan on some bigger items through the Nissan dealer like the accent lighting pack in the foot wells but pretty expensive at ÂŁ350 to buy and Nissan to install.

I'll get some pictures up later this week before the new spolier go's on and what it looks like after.

You'll need to notify your insurance company as well of any mods just so they know.If you do any major mods that would affect the warranty, then it might be worth exercising caution before posting pictures - otherwise if a claim arose, there would be proof that you had fitted something that could void the warranty. Having said that, Nissan would have to prove that your mods were directly related to the issue (so adding extra speakers couldn't void a warranty claim for an engine problem, for instance), and as above, styling mods (especially if they are Nissan parts) shouldn't affect any warranty. Some modding companies will give their own warranty in the event that it voids the manufacturers warranty.

If Nissan fit a spoiler at factory at manufacture..Is this classed as an 'extra'? Or a mod? Or would I need to advise insurance company that spoiler was on?..

Fee x

No, anything factory fitted, or official dealer fit (ie Nissan accessories) don't affect the warranty.

actd, Fee was not asking about WARRANTY! D'oh!If the parts are fitted at the Factory then No, they are part of the car, but if installed by your Dealer before collection and after PDI then yes you would have to advise your Insurance Provider of the Modifications carried out to your car in case it in creased their perception of risk where it came to calculating an Insurance Premium.Saying that most just list them against your policy and they don't actually add anything to your premium unless they are a Performance Modification [Engine Tune, Exhaust Mod, Suspension Mod, Brake Mod, Etc ...?].Have a word with Chris Knott - they did a cracking deal for me on my Juke and even price matched a bit to get it even lower which was a right result

Don't sweat it actd ... Fee could have posted her question in a better thread ... eh Fee Thread subject ... ''Modifications and my warranty''Bad Fee ... bad, bad Fee ....

It does not matter if the factory fitted extras or the dealer fitted them you must tell your insurance co.When they give you a quote it is for the car as shown in the brochure. So if its a 1.2 Tekna that is what they base their quote on.Not a Tekna with sun roof etc. That is classed as modifications.

Yep and that included

A striped decal
Mud flaps
Mats?!!!!!!
And boot liner ( as part of protection pack)

They didn't cost me anything, or an admin fee but are now listed!!!

Must confess, having to declare mats was a bit much

When I was declaring the dash cam (which I still haven't fitted!!) they initially thought it was one that would just sit on the dash and get plugged into the power socket, so said that didn't need to be declare. However, the fact that it will be wired in means it does. I think the rule is generally that if it's a permanent fixture, it should be declared, if it's removeable, then possibly not. On that basis, you could probably have got away with the mats.

Wow - there goes my theory.
