Hi Guys, Hoping you are able to help me with querie iv had with my the Jukes CVT gear box. I went out a few nights ago and drove over a patch of ice, the wheels spun and I had a moment I hope not to repeat. I noticed straight away the gear box was reving and changing gear differently to normal, is this some sort of safety thing? On the way home I went over the same patch of ice slower with the EBS turned off and this time span the wheels deliberately to see if the gear box would do the same and it did. Both times this happened I had the gear box in manual mode and 4x4 was on, can this be turned off or is it a special feature of the CVT gear box??? Thanks

ABS, manual and AWD can all be turned off. Manual has to be, as you can't engage Park otherwise.Which gear were you in, what speed/revs and which AWD mode?I have not experienced this myself (have the 2011 AWD) but this may be down to my luck or light footed driving style under adverse conditions.

Hi Acrorat, I can only guess my speed was around 40 and I was in 4th gear, the wheels spun I eased off on the gas and started to slow down. I noticed that I could rev the car while driving without accelerating at it normal rate. But within a few miles I could no longer rev the engine and it al went back t normal, on my way home I purposely do this again on the same patch of ice and it all happened again? Do you think this is a safety feature for the CVT gear box so it cant be damaged?

Hi sounds like the problem I had on my Nismo cvt when I got it 18 months ago. There is a safety feature built in. If the wheels slip in a particular way, the cvt seems to change the way it works for 60 seconds. For me, if I was in sport (my default setting but it did it in normal too when I checked) the gear changing stopped and the engine just seemed to rev to the red line. Pressing the accelerator on/off - the rev counter swings up/down with a perception of lack of acceleration. Strange feeling. After 60 seconds the gear changing would return. I got a software update and the 60 seconds has been dropped to about 5 seconds. I have posted details earlier if you need more info. Hope this helps.
