NISMO tyre wear

Post by karma mechanic » Sun Jan 11, 2015 6:27 pm

My ContiSport 5's had definitely worn more in the centre, at exactly 33 psi on the front. Not by a great deal, but the central rib was looking quite worn. The 3mm markers (the little square blocks with an X on them) had worn off the X on the outside ones but the X was still just evident on the inside ones. The wear was therefore very slightly biased towards the outside but much more evident in the centre third of the tyre.At the first service in September they did make a note that the tyres were nearly shot at about 10k miles (both pairs having been on the front) so maybe it is worth me complaining...

I think the more people that complain the better . The contisport tyre is definitely not the best tyre for that car . I'll be interested if nissan stick with the 33psi though. My wife has 18" contisport 5's on her tekna so I'll be keeping a close eye on them also , I could be putting in a 2nd complaint in 5000k time :( we shall see .

I'm pleased to see its not just me that nissan have taken the correct course of action with though , there is something not quite right with this tyre at 33psi

Hi , I know its been a while since someone posted on this topic but I have just been to the dealership for the software update and they have pointed out my front tyres are at 2mm with only 10600mls completed I have spoken to Nissan who have advised me to book the car back in for a more in-depth inspection to determine if its wear & tear or a defect with the tyres......I'm guessing they will come back with the wear & tear story but I won't be giving up on this one without a fight I know some troops have said that you need to rotate the tyres as per the manual but surely the dealership would do this as part of the service ??? Oh it was serviced on june and they made no comment with regards to the tyres Juke Tekna 1.6 DiGi-T with continentals all round Keep you posted to the outcome .....

NISMO tyre wear

Hi AllJust purchased a February 2016 Nismo RS 4WD Auto with 600 miles on the clock.Car as Conti 5 tyres on.Checked tyre pressures 33psi Front 33psi Rear. On Door pillar says fronts should be 36 Psi ??Have things changed ? should they all be at 33 Psi ?Also in hand book says swop front right wheel with rear right wheel and front left wheel with rear left wheel every 3,000 miles.Assume this should keep tyre tread ware the same on all 4 corners. Many thanks

PDI at many nissan garages seems to be quite poor.
fwiw, I would stick with the tyre pressures displayed on the door pillar.
I have diesel, so no idea about the wheel rotation thing, although I have read that on another thread.
