Engine rattling

you will need to pay for the belt kit and water pump fitment. should be around 300 I reckon due to millage if it has not been done already get it done asap the last thing you want is a snapped belt and a rod been thrown

i would take the aux belt off and see if it stops.i think if your pumps or bearings on the cambelt had a problem you would of nackered your engine by now.you can still change it ,but find what the problem is first.

Hi Wally, just a quick question I live 12 miles northwest of Manchester If you live nearby I could drive over and take a look for you .
Its only a Juke if it's RED.

Hi I’m in South Wales sorry I’m due to get the car back this week the dealership took it in to diagnose not repair..........I will upload a video straight away of the noise

fair enough, just remember dealerships are mega expensive. hope its a cheap and easy fix

hopefully, the garage can pinpoint the problem. did you mention about the blue smoke on startup?

Can someone clarify a point for me, the word cambelt is mentioned in the above posts but according to my workshop manual the Juke has a cam chain.
Apologies if I have misunderstood something here as I am new to the world of Nissan

petrol jukes have a timing chain,the diesel has a cam belt.
and the diesel engine is a renault :!:

Hi all I’ve had the diagnosis back from the garage took a while 5 weeks to say it’s a timing chain/ cam belt issue there is still smoke coming out the exhaust but not as much. The rattling stops when I put into neutral and over a certain amount of Revs. Also it passed an MOT last week saying a slight oil leak as an advisory, any ideas on cost???
