Nismo RS Erratic Idle Speed

Post by Weety » Wed Apr 15, 2015 11:23 am

I've only had my Nismo RS for a few weeks, but noticed that when I start it, it can tick over from anywhere between 500-2000rpm. I though at first it was just that the engine was cold, but it's never just idled at 750rpm (which is what I'd expect). I can pull up to a junction, drop the clutch and the revs shoot up, it sounds like a cant drive and is a bit embarrassing! The revs also drop to 500rpm and although is doesn't feel like it's going to stall, it doesn't feel right. Took it in this morning for that and to have the wheels balanced (turns out it was missing a weight) and they service guy said he thought this was just a characteristic if the Nismo. He's called me back and they cannot find a fault with it. I asked if they took it out and checked it and he told me the same thing, the technician could not find a fault. So my question is: does this happen to anyone else's RS? Is this just a "a characteristic" of the RS or do I need to be kicking off Thanks all!

Mine does it, not that often though and I agree it's bloody embarrassing!

Yup, my Nismo does that as well but only from cold. I'm assuming its the choke making sure it doesn't stall but I don't think it really needs 2000rpm to make sure of that!So it looks like it might be a "characteristic" of the Nismo as well!

Mine too. Makes all sorts of clunks and clicks. The air con clunk is particularly unsettling when you're not used to it.

From cold it appears it pumps alot of fuel into the engine and the I think its fairly normal. When mines warmed up i can sometimes get a bit of an erratic warm idle - sometimes hunts a bit between 500 and 800 rpm. They reset it at the last service but its back again... but sometimes. I have a normal Nismo fyi. Hopefully this helps.
Cheers

I get the almost about to stall thing on occasion but can't say I've seen my revs go up to 2000.

So picked the car up and the technician could not find a fault.

Sounds like it's just another quirk of the Juke. He did say it's a high performance engine and may be a bit erratic... I'm sure other high performance cars don't do it, I'm prepared to live with it... Puts a smile on my face everyday :-)

Like skyliner34 I have the same " issue" with my 1.6 Dig-T especially once the stop/start kicks in and I press the clutch to start the Rev jumps up to about 1500 or so ......very annoying plus I guess fuel consuming despite the stop/start actually supposed to save fuel ???
