Hand brake adjustment

Post by Mazdaman » Tue Mar 06, 2018 9:21 pm

Hi All

I've read a few articles on here about adjusting the hand brake travel and they mention drums. Our 2014 is discs all around so is it just that really awkward nut under the hand brake that I need to adjust? If so any hints please as just how to get at it.

centre console comes out to get to the hand brake nut.
the rear brakes are pads and also shoe,s that hide inside the disc,s for the handbrake.
makes changing the rear pads alot easyer you only have to push the brake piston,s and not have to screw them back in.

I found that you don't need to remove the whole console (no idea how to anyway) - just the rubberised surround to the slot around the handbrake lever (use a plastic trim tool - cheap to buy) - then you need a very deep socket, the t-handled sockets are ideal as they have a flexible joint.
