cvt help

my friend has a 2012 1.6 auto cvt with only 30,000 on the clock .And the gearbox has gone
The car is on finance and she as only had it six months.And they want £1.500 to fix it.
Is there anything she can do .
Please can could anyone advise us where to go with this.thank you

When you say 'they' do you mean Nissan? It's definitely worth getting a second opinion, for example, from this company, who specialises in auto transmissions:

thanks,she did not tel me who gave her the price.i think someone is contacting nissan.
i will pass this on to her .30,000 out of a gearbox is a joke.

Did the car have a warranty when you purchased it - if so that's the way to go. You could have a word with trading standards to see what their opinion is on such a major repair after 6 months, it may be a long shot, but worth asking. If TS say you may have a case, then you could potentially go against either the dealer or the finance company for a contribution towards the repair.
