New engine

Post by davidjackson » Tue Nov 27, 2018 11:33 am

I have just been advised that my 2014 Juke needs a new engine. It has only done 31,000 miles. It had a major service in 2016 but missed a service in 2017 and without further investigation the cause has been suggested as dirty oil. (The oil levels have been kept up to the correct levels). Because of this missed service I am getting no support from Nissan. This was not picked up in the major service in 2016 and has past subsequent MOTs with flying colours, including one earlier this month. To replace the engine is very expensive. Has anyone else had a similar problem.

Can you provide us with some more information ?
Why does it need a new engine ? Has it seized up ? Black smoke coming out of the exhaust ? Unusual noises ? Sludge on the oil filler cap ?
Clearly oil changes are very important, what type of mileage have you done since the last full service.
To my knowledge oil does not fail it simply becomes less effective as time goes on.
Have you had more than one opinion about this. ?

What wasn’t picked up? What’s the mot got to do with it?
Tekna 1.6, grey with a see through roof and very bright headlights.
