Headlight has water inside

Post by Rayarnold » Sun Dec 23, 2018 8:16 am

Hi
Can anyone advise the easiest method to dry out the main beam light that has water inside. I think it must have got in when the car was valeted with a jet wash?

Do I need to remove the light? If so how?

That's very odd ?
How much water are we talking about ?
To my knowledge the only way a lot of water could get in is if the engine was washed and the rubber around where the bulb goes in is either missing or not in place correctly.
If the engine was not included in the valet then there is a problem in the headlight enclosure and even if you get the water out by using a thin flexible tube and syringe the problem will occur again in heavy rain and it will not be long before rust followed by a mot failure.

The headlight should be sealed from all external water. Usually the cap where you change the bulbs comes loose and moisture gets in.

Not on the juke, but on other cars, I've taken the headlight off, emptied as much as I can out, then hairdryer to get then remaining water out. Don't try to seal it when drying it, you want the wet air to come out.
