Journalist enquiry - 2011-2013 Jukes - timing chain issue

Post by Jukebox1973 » Wed Sep 11, 2019 2:26 pm

Hi there. I'm a UK journalist looking into timing chain issues - mostly relating to 2011-2013 models sold in the UK - but any made since with problems would be interesting to know about.

I'm just seeing please if people have had problems with them - if they'd message me and tell me what happened. I'm looking at those years primarily and also mileage at the time of problems.

I'd just like to know please how much of a problem it is.

Thanks for reading...

Nissan doesnt have a recall on this but has extended the warranty . I really don't want to keep my car anymore now as im afraid This is going to keep happening !!!!

The diesel is but the petrols DIG-T engines are not they are chain,
Having had a conversation earlier today after receiving a PM on this issue
I discovered that the 1.2 engines seems to be affected in the same way the 1.6 DIG-T engine is

I've been aware of the 1.6 issue since 2011 despite Nissans denial of the issue affect European cars
and it seems the 1.2 engine is a s big a problem though the conversation I had suggested that Nissan is dealing with
the 1.2 issues. I wonder if they will be back dating that to those that they refused help to that paid out for repairs

Hi, I have a 2010 1.6 Dig-t. I had big issues approx' 5 yrs ago and I will share what I can remember with you in case it may help someone.
My trusted mechanic mate said the chain is buggered, Cant remember the mileage but it was under the mileage stated in the warrenty. Using this forum and further research I found that all 1.6 Dig-t engines are assembled and crated in Japan. They are then shipped across the world, Engines sent here have a 60k/3 yr warrenty, The same engine shipped to the States has a 60k/5 yr warrenty! I argued this point with Nissan but they would not budge. Obviously so there wasn't thousands of claims. The deal I got was they paid for the new parts, approx. £950. I paid the grand for the labour, which I was told was an engine out job. Obviously the chain, tensioners and both pullies are not man enough for the turbo application. That's as much as I can remember. I hope it may help. 60k could be 50k, I cant remember. Good luck.
