All Sorted
Bit of a schoolboy error..thinking No1 cylinder was on the left as you look at the engine, it is actually on the right...when all codes were checked and coded...engine running sweet as a nut and the wife has stopped nagging ( well for 5 mins anyway)

Thanks to all who contributed...

Cylinder 1 should be on the left if you look at it form the front, timing belt end is always number 1

Pse see below extract from a misfire post ref cylinder numbering....

P0301 is a cylinder specific misfire code, which means that cylinder 1 is misfiring and causing the code. An important thing to understand when finding the location of cylinder one is that it’s going to be the first cylinder in the firing order of the vehicle, and not the first cylinder that you might see when looking at the engine.

There does appear to be a bit of confusion on where cylinder 1 is with the renault engine, silly french cant count right.
