Distance to Empty display

Post by vernal_555 » Wed May 20, 2020 1:32 pm

During the Covid-19 induced times, one of the pluses has been the low petrol prices, so I've been keeping the tank brimmed each week. A couple of weeks ago I topped up when the range was saying around 190 miles, and was expecting the readout to show the usual 230-240 miles it normally does once the engines been started. But this time it stayed at the 190, and slowly climbed to around 210 by the time I reached home (around 10 minutes), to where it stayed.

I only bought the car in December so was wondering which behaviour is normal? The instant update of the milage, or a slow climb? And have I managed to break the sensor??

Normal for newer cars. It'll be guessing your range based on recent driving patterns. So a couple of full tank runs on the motorway would give a higher figure at filling.

The diesel would be anywhere from 450 to 650 when filling depending on the driving.
