MPG

Post by Duncan22 » Tue Jul 16, 2019 4:26 pm

I have a juke Tenka 1.6 petrol 2012.
I am trying to figure out what the average mpg is for the car.
The advertising blurb and various websites make different claims.
The display shows 41.5 mpg which I assume is supposed to be a average figure except it's been that figure for the past year and is clearly wrong as I doubt that a couple of hours of continous motorway driving it's unlikely to be a correct figure.
Each persons driving habits will of course affect mpg but I am trying to find a average figure.
Changing the mpg display it jumps all over the place, doing 70 along the motorway it was showing as 68 mpg..........I wish.
What sort of average mpg are you getting if you are driving this particular model of Juke ?

There are two mpg, average and instantaneous. The instantaneous will continually change with load and your right foot.

If there's any doubt then do it the old fashioned way, fill the tank, reset the miles and average mpg. Wait until the tank is near empty, fill up then calculate the true mpg, then compare it to the dash average.

For the diesel, I've found the average mpg is pretty much perfect when comparing take to tank.

Hi, I have an 1.6 petrol 2017, It is drinking between av. 8-9L/100km, 26-29mpg in the city.
Unfortunatly on the highway it is terrible, the rev rpm is very high and noisy, at the speed limit 130km/h appx.4500Rpm and 25-26mpg.
I can't drive with 80km/h in 5th gear with it on the highway. I don't know why the gearbox is too short in the 4th and 5th.
(just for info, my 2008 Skoda Superb 1.9PDTDI has av.50mpg at 130km/h in the 5th gear at 2800rpm on the highway.....)
I like jokes.

At 70mph, (115kph), the revs are just above 2,250, and you'll get around 60mpg with the diesel!
