Which tyres to go for ??? 1.6T Dig-T

Post by Danlee9 » Thu Mar 30, 2017 9:41 am

Hi,

Looking to get a set of tyres for the 1.6T Dig-T Tekna. I believe the standard sizes are 215/ 55R17, please correct me if I am wrong

The prices for that size seem a bit steep! I have an Astra, which runs 225/ 40R18. For the price of non premium tyres on the Juke I can get premium tyres on the Astra ?

Anyone got any recommendations on tyres? Also noticed the ride is a little loud which I think might be due to the tyres on it right now. So would like some that have a decent sound rating.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

Dan

Hi Dan

Just picked up a new juke and thats fitted with these

Bridgestone Turanza ER300

Looks a good tyre but only done 60 miles on it so no idea about wear rate etc. Retail at around £90 fitted.

Best regards
Dave

My Turanza tyres lasted about 17K miles on the front, still loads of tread on the back.
I don't understand why Juke (or any other crossover tyres) are so expensive

Hi.
I have the Turanza tyres on my 15 reg 1.2 TEKNA and I find them a hard ride, I was thinking when I need to replace them to go for a softer alternative

The 1.2 engine is lighter than the 1.5dCi - wonder if that's enough to make the ride feel a bit harder.

Bruiser01 - have you checked your tyre pressures since you picked your car up? Every new Juke I've had has had the tyres overinflated by about 4psi and it doesn't seem to be picked up in the pre delivery inspection. If you do need to adjust the pressures, don't forget to reset the TPMS

One point about the noise rating on tyres - I read something a while back suggesting that as the noise levels were measured to the side of the car, at a short distance away, it was possible that the way to reduce this was to design the tyre so that the noise was contained within the wheel arch rather than disspating outwards. If that's the case (and it was only someone's theory), then the noise of a quiet tyre might actually be louder in the car than a tyre with a higher noise rating.

Not sure where you are getting your prices from, on Blackcircles, the 225/40/18 are only about £5 - 10 cheaper than the 215/55/17 that the Juke needs, for same brand tyres such as Avon or Continental.

I'm not sure if you saw a post a few months ago regarding the continental tyres fitted to some juke which has returned poor milage mines included although I managed to have them replaced by Nissan after I complained - so stay clear of the Conti's
