I had the same problem last week and changed the battery but in the manual it says you need to put the key up to the stop start button and press the key fob to activate. Check the manual for full info.

I've not had the problem with doors not opening, but had it with it not starting. And when i put the key to the push-to-start button, it always works. Nissan changed the battery in the key and it didn't solve the yellow flashing light for me. Its like a hit and miss whether the symbol appears or not for me.

May be a silly question, but where is your key when you are starting it? I have a aluminium credit card wallet, and find sometimes that if the car key is in my pocket against the wallet, the car doesn't always recognise the key is there - presumably the wallet is shielding the transponder in the key.
