We have the 1.5dci and i thought with only doing short runs that we had to give it a good run now and again to keep the dpf clear.
I plugged my scanner in today as i had an idea that it was ready for a regen and surely enough the car had 2 failed attempts at regen.
So i thought i would take it for a run with the scanner still plugged in.I started with a reading of 27.25 grams of soot,i dont think it actually weighs it ,its probably worked out by the pressure sensor, so with only a warm engine i jumped on the motorway which is only round the corner doing 60 mph in 5th.
After about 3miles i could see the soot levels dropping even when i came off to spin round it continued to drop and by the time i had got home it was down to 0.8 grams. a total of 12miles.
I use to do about 35/40 miles getting home with 2 grams of soot , hope this helps anyone

Re: DPF
It's a great shame that info isn't available without plugging in a scanner. Presumably, there were no warning lights on the dash to say that regen had failed, so the first you'd know (without the scanner) is when the DPF fails.

Re: DPF
Yeah, I know what it looks like - it's just when I had my DPF failure, it hadn't come on at all.
