Radio and Sat Nav Problems

Hello everybody I am a new member and although I have done a quick search I cannot find a topic covering my problem, My radio cuts off at least 8/10 times per hour and if I am using the sat nav at the time that also cuts out, the radio sometimes actually closes down and restarts on its own, I have been to the garage twice now for upgrades, the last one was yesterday, the same problem is still persisting and when I spoke to the garage today they said that at a meeting yesterday they had heard this problem was mainly in the East of England??

My question is, therefore, is this right or is this countrywide or is it just my bad luck, because although I was in SE London last week it was happening there as well.

I now have a serious problem because I am off to France soon and obviously need a reliable Sat Nav whilst there as I will not have a map reader with me, and will have to consider buying a new car, sadly it will not be a NIssan because if this is happening to my car which is only 3 years old the same could happen to a new car, which is sad because I love my Juke.

I would appreciate your comments please

What garage did you go to ? Was it a Nissan dealer ?
If not that would be my first stop. If it was a Nissan dealer I would try another Nissan garage, what they are telling you is a load of rubbish.
Problem is likely to be a loose wiring connection and they can't be bothered to look for it.
There may be a few instances when the weather is very bad, lightening etc but even then contact would only be lost once or twice, what you describe is something different.
Another thought is the ariel connection being lose or damaged.

Yes, sounds like rubbish - if it was affecting all units in that area, it would be all over the news. Sounds like loose wire somewhere, though possibly could be the electronics within the unit. Cheaper than buying a new car would be to replace the unit with an aftermarket unit. I am assuming that your car is out of warranty - if not get onto Nissan customer service.

Hi, I have had exactly the same problem. I have a Tekna 1.2 2015,petrol. I bought it with 6000 on the clock and for the first 18 months it was fine. It was out of warranty March 2018 and surprise surprise, the dab radio started curing out for about 20 to 30 seconds every 5 mins or so. I finally spoke to the Nissan garage who advised it is a known problem (to them!!) and because I have a service contract and have always had my car serviced by Nissan, they offered to pay half the cost of a replacement, after a software update failed to rectify the issue. However, the cost of replacement was £2500!!!!......

So, any ideas gratefully received with regard to a fix or indeed an alternative system that will allow all other connections such as cameras, Bluetooth, etc to work.

Someone mentioned it was only a problem in the East....I think that’s rubbish. I am in Surrey, but the issue occurs in the midlands, Kent, Devon, Wales, Newcastle.....all places I have driven too and issue persists
Any ideas gratefully received. Many thanks

The puzzle is this, why would something work for 18 months and then cease to work unless there was a software or hardware problem.
Well the software has been uploaded again and that has not resolved it so it must be the hardware but why just a few cars with this particular problem, I would have thought it would have affected any car with this particular system ?
It seems reasonable to me that such a system should be expected to last far longer than this and I would check under the sale of goods act, to offer you half the cost of a new system at that price is just plain robbery.
I would also be sending a couple of letter off to Nissan in Sunderland and Nissan in Japan.
There are alternative systems you can fit but not sure if any include sat navs. If you go down that route get it fitted professionally unless you have done such work before.

If you can get an alternative with airplay of google auto, you can use the satnav on your phone, goodle maps, waze etc I think. I did have a problem with mine a few years back (different Juke) which was, in theory, partly due to test transmissions in the area. Was fixed by a software update but shows it can be simple things that cause problems. If it is hardward, could just be a small batch with a defect, which might be why it's not widespread.
