Fuel going so fast!

Post by Chloe_arnold76 » Mon Feb 03, 2020 3:14 pm

Hello,

I really hope someone can help. I have a 1.2 nissan juke Tekna. When refuelling I spend roughly £45-£50 for about 40litres of petrol which is a full tank. However, this only lasts me about 230 miles. When watching how many miles I have left until it is empty, it decreased by 7 miles when I barely had done a quarter of a mile. Is this usual for nissan jukes or does something sound faulty? 🤔

It's a bit low, about 26mpg. Never trust the range, or mpg reading, always work it out from full tank to full tank.

Consuption will oncrease in winter time, lights on, heaters etc. And if only doing short journeys will kill the mpg. What's your average journey distance?

Have to admit, I was surprised to see ours say about 240 left to empty on a 1.2.
Having watched the instant fuel consumption go down to 7mpg I was surprised as I think that must match my Pulsar Gtir and that has 340bhp.
We haven't had ours long enough to check against a long journey so ours is only local driving so far.

The 1.2 is not known for it economy. From historic posts with both Juke and Qashqai owners its quite thirsty i also believe it likes a bit of oil as well. you also have to take into consideration that the Juke has a fairly small fuel tank and many think its using more than it actually is as they compare fill ups to previous car which is likely to have had a much larger tank. Instant MPG is never a good thing a better guide is the Average that said as Vexorg has stated only true way is a grim to brim fill and calculate it your self

Yes I realise that. I was just comparing it to other cars I've had that have had the same feature. My old 2L Montego struggled to get as low as I'm seeing on the Juke. Last night when it was cold I even got it down to 3mpg without trying too hard,

I got 48 mpg from 1.2 DIG-T last week on a trip to Cornwall.
I was pleasantly surprised.

Dont forget when you fill up with fuel you add a lot of extra weight to the car, try only half filling it may make a difference.
