What engine?

Annual servicing is not overkill, it's vital.
1.2 petrol. 15 plate.

I'm not suggesting servicing is overkill, I'm saying from what people have told me, a minor or major service is overkill, considering I only do about 4/5,000 a year. I'm about to get my fourth service and have done less than 17,000 miles.

One of my local dealerships on their website actually suggests their "basic" service (just oil and filter change) for cars over 3 years old. That's what I'm planning on going with, but at a different Nissan dealership as this other one also offer other stuff with it like the free Nissan breakdown cover.

Unfortunately I just tend to hear "never go there for a service or MOT" rather than good things like that! Looked on Google Maps for all reviewed places and they were just as expensive as the dealer.

Learn to do it yourself and save a fortune, and know it's done right. The basic tools needed are not so expensive, cheaper than a few services.

Hi Cristoff if your still unsure which way to go as you only do 4/5 thou every year why don't you have a service every 2 years, this way your saving
money and it gives you more time to decide Dealer or Independent

It would still live a lot longer with a service every year

I've decided to go for the level 1 service (oil and filter) at the dealership. It's the cheapest I can find, and while pricey for those two things, it does come with extras like a car wash and breakdown cover, without me having to do it myself. Hopefully I'm making the right decision.

Well another local dealership cost more for their basic (exactly the same service) without those extras, and it's £109 vs two or three hundred for a minor or major, which people tell me I don't need.
