I'm interested in this as well as I'll be doing this in a couple of weeks. The camera I'm using has a hardwire kit and also a capacitor to replace the battery.

 

if you dont want to be splicing into wires you can always use a piggy back fuse

simply remove fuse install piggy back fuse holder then replace the fuses

That's interesting. I am toying with the easy solution of a wire wire directly to the battery with an inline fuse - the hardwire kit cuts the power if the battery voltage drops to avoid draining the battery too far.
