Hi juke owners, I joined last week when I put deposit down on a 1.5 diesel acenta sports pack white 2012 juke at glyn Hopkins in Watford. I would love a top of the range model but cannot afford it so just want to know if you think the colour reverse camera is a necessity and worth paying extra for? Planning to return to showroom tomorrow with a friend for another look at car before final purchase in case I change my mind.

My friend has a petrol Acenta automatic model which has the built in sat nav and cameras. Now I want all those things I think, although I've never had them before!

Any comments re these cameras in particular. Am I wasting my £12,250 on this car which doesn't have cameras?
Will I find the juke easy to park without cameras as I have never had parking sensors before?

is it worth extra £2000 for the Tekna version?

Been awake again all night as I am confused now. I hate looking at lots of different things and not knowing what to do. I need to decide this week

ALL ADVICE AND REASSURANCE ON MODEL WITHOUT CAMERAS MUCH APPRECIATED.

At the end of the day its all about money and perception. I think the Deks answer is correct look for one with the sat/camera on it. Its nice to have. Dont spen 12 K and be regretting you did not buy the car you wanted. If finances allow go for the Tekna. Good hunting.

Hi Shazza57,welcome to the forum, your car is the second most expensive item other than a house.so you have to make the right decisions cost, fuel consumption, has it got all the toys that i need, and last of all no sleepless nights.good luck which ever model you choose.

Its a personal choice at end of the day, i personally do not like reversing cameras or beepers i just like to use my own natural parking perception sensors - when is the last time you reversed into something? I dont find juke any more difficult to park than a golf. Dont lose sleep over whatever car you buy its not that important in the grand scheme of things. :*)

Hi Deks and thank you all for replying so honestly. The showroom have a 1.6 Acenta Premium for sale but not a diesel. They got a bit funny with me on the phone today when I said I am returning tomorrow to have another test drive of the one I have put a deposit on, which is 2012 Acenta with sports pack. I asked about maybe looking at the petrol one and an automatic version, and he tried to fob me off saying I wouldn't like either for motorway driving.By the way, I do 200 miles on the motorway each week and he said its very heavy usage so I need the diesel version.Would you be wary that it has had 2 owners already having done 9000 miles? or is that normal?I need to be armed for my visit tomorrow with a friend because I feel I might get annoyed as sales guy not that keen to show me anything else for fear he may lose a sale I suppose.Sharon

Thanks, I see you have a lovely Nismo, looks amazing from what I have seen, but I am no technical expert on cars or anything else for that matter. Salesman telling me that the newer 2013 models will cost me £14,500 if I want Tekna or premium pack which is £2000 more than I can really afford.I think as I am now in my 50s I want a bit of luxury.Am I wasting my time buying an Acenta 1.6 petrol model for my 200 miles a week motorway to work driving? salesman says I am!I guess I should have done my research before putting down a £500 deposit last Thursday! as I may not get it back now...The more I look at different models, the more confused I get - but I do want a Juke in white and the best I can afford, so I will see what happens tomorrow when I go back...Thank you.

Fantastic words of wisdom! you are right - last time I hit anything was 30 years ago when I just passed my driving test and dented my bumper. Since then, I am very careful and use mirrors and don't do anything unless I have plenty of room and can see what I am doing.. I have never had these things but am being greedy and materialistic and want to be like others who do have them. Don't want to feel I am missing out.How much bigger is the Juke than my Corsa? cant be that different can it....

Can you clarify difference between Acenta Premium and Acenta Sports Pack? and petrol or diesel better? or both as good in Premium? The more questions I ask the more confused I am getting! I will get there and I will get a Juke.Just think the salesman talked a lot of rubbish as he thought we were two silly women!I really want a Juke so that I can join this forum properly having driven one.

Shazza, ive read various posts you have done and you seem to be overly worried about what you have chosen.Go back to the dealer explain that you are not certain try the different engines and see which suits you best then look at the trim level. try to go for Acenta Premium as this has a few extras like camera and sat nav that sport and acenta doesnt. If the salesman tries to talk you out of it its because he wants rid of that car and for no other reason.Glyn Hopkin is a big group and will almost certainly have what you want in stock at one of their branches you could even check their stock here http://www.glynhopkin.com/

Dear Deks, thank you for reassuring me and I will go back today and try the diesel one again and ask to drive the petrol Acenta - it's my money after all. He insists that petrol no good for me but I have no idea if petrol or diesel Acenta is best for me as not had diesel before. Others on this forum love their diesel Jukes which has reassured me a lot. I guess it's personal choice at end of the day and how much you can afford to spend.

Does it mean the car is not good if it's had two owners in two years, or just it's been in their forecourt for too long?

Any advice re questions I should ask about the car before I finally buy? I don't trust salesmen totally I'm afraid.

Sharon

Thank you so much, that is very reassuring I am such a worrier, not worth losing sleep over a car I guess but it's a big outlay so need to get it right. Made a big mistake before my Corsa when I got a Toyota Aygo tiny car for economy and hated it after one week.....

Just got a 1.6 petro acenta and I have to say it really needs a 6th gear if you doing
Lot of mileage on motorway then your revs will be a lot higher with only 5 gears
And consequently use more petrol. I notice at 70mph mine is doing over the 3000 rpm
Whereas my kia did just over 2000 rpm at same speed.

So i wouldnt worry about that too much unless of course the dealer gets pushy about that one car (as if it was the only juke in the world if you get me) Maybe a petrol isnt right for you but thats your decision if the dsalesman is guiding you for the right reasons then thats good and helpful but call me cynical but I ve not yet come across a car salesman who adivses people for their benefit rather than his. Remember he earns his commission on sales.Go back today try a different engine Juke then you will know for certain which is better.I do 6K per year and would swap my diesel for a standard petrol as I dont think the gearbox is great(personal thing) As I said earlier if you want the camera/satnav go for an acenta premium.Glyn Hopkin has a large amount of group stock of Jukes so hopefully can find you want you want at your budget.... as a side note I tweeted them last night to advise of this thread so head office know of you concern and worries

Is there not a 'cooling off' period regarding deposits?

Hi I drive Nismo CVT. Ok heavy on petrol if you won't it to be but M way 80mph just over 2000 rpm and the mpg in high 40's +
You won't get good fuel eco if your leaden footed. I am go for a blast just getting 25 mpg so you pay for the fun.
Came from a small peugeot so the reversing camera a great help all the Nissan connect just love great Bluetooth connection for the HiFi on my iPhone and the send to car is a must
Others have said the same car the second biggest thing you'll buy (for most) if you buy the car that's second choice you'll regret it if not now but sooner or later. There are some great deals out there think about leasing instead of outright buying the car. I'm 52 this year and plan to change my car every 3 years till I retire. If you go for PCP say 10,000 mile a year take the car back after 3 years with 18,000 to 20,000 you'll get a better deal on the final payment so have you deposit for you next car. If you do high mileage go lease only I have a friend who'll do best part of 60,000 to 80,000 miles in
3 years so the resale value is jack. Get full service with consumables (tyres breaks) so all you do is put fuel in tax and insurance
What ever you go for you'll love the juke but go for the best one you can afford

Shazza keep us posted. As others have said the dealer is out for himself first, plus I am sure plenty of Jukes in stock throughout his dealership and I am sure he can source you something rather than you just walking a way. Good Luck
