Propilot is damn freaky

Had a go at the propilot last night on the motorway, so freaky having it move the steering wheel to keep the car centred on the lanes, even on bends.

Then started playing with it to see the limits, try and make it wander and it forces you back in the middle of the lane. Take you hands off the wheel (litterally a few mm) to see what it does and it somehow knows you're not got your hands on the wheel and you get a big red warning on the dash.

All done on an empty strech of motorway, so no risk to anyone else.

It took a few attempts to figure out the blue propilot button is also cruise control.

Oddly our grass needs cut, but the bins are full since the bushes and hedges needed done. And now they have cut back bin collections, and closed the local recycling centre. Maybe next week as they are collecting this week.

I'm starting to go off the system. It serieouly doesn't like twisty country roads.
It actually cuts the power and steers away at the wrong times. Some roads have you naturally move nearer the edge line or middle line, have it steer the wrong way on a bend isn't what you want.

Or on the motorway last week, passing a slow van, it decided he was too close when moving back over so started slowing the car down in front of them. Making be look like some fool that cant drive.

Had a few schizophrenic moments with the propilot too,

Speed limit is 60, speed set to 60, it'll sometimes go over and I get told off for speeding by the warnings.

Yesterday, on the A9, nice clear day, good road markings on the dual carriageway, it was keeping the lane centred as it does, then I get a warning I've too close to the white line. Not a case of it couldn't match the bends, it was a straight road, and normally does the bing-bong if it can see the lines properly.

If this is state of the art assistance, then it doesn't bode well for self driving cars.

The gap thing is useful, but too far away as default, I forget to change it from 3 ro 2 all the time, and after you pull out there's quite a delay before it speeds up again. Makes you look bad as you've pulled out miles away and a car behind looking annoyed as to why you've pulled out.
